Opinion leaders are often the referent of friends and family, asking their advice and opinions on products, travel, finance, fashion or politics. For them, Social Media are wild, are frequent users of Twitter, Facebook and forums, content, and enjoy sharing opinions through blogs, email and instant messaging and the Internet have found the perfect place to spread its influence.
Opinion leaders represent only 15% of total public social media, but their consumption patterns give them a disproportionate influence. The remaining 85% is less focused on generating content, prefer to consume the others do.
74% of these influencers consider online advertising to improve brand image. According to the study, in the last month, one in four links to a website that had been recommended, 61% post an opinion about a brand, 42% shared a video.
